Many people don’t know how much beauty comes with some traditions. Treti Pivni, a group of Slavic stylists and photographers decided in a workshop to bring back one of Ukraine’s most beautiful traditions. In a serie of portraits they took an old tradition and gave it a new spin. Modern women were photographed with the traditional crowns.
These headdresses were worn by young, unmarried women to show their “purity” and marital eligibility according to tradition.
Since the Ukrainian identity is suffering quite a bit due to political issues, it’s good to hold on to the beauty that is often forgotten. The country faces serious threats to its integrity and unity so these kind of projects are needed now more than ever.
As model Nadiia Shapoval told Vogue Magazine: “I think we are coming back to floral themes because fashion is starting to react on wars that we are having around the globe. We need some tenderness.“
